Outdoor Learning for Home Educated Children

Discover a selection of bushcraft and forest school sessions across the West Midlands—designed to help children connect with nature, build confidence, and learn practical skills in a hands-on environment.

These sessions are delivered by independent providers and offer a variety of age-appropriate activities for home-educating families.

Bracken Outdoors Forest School

Location: Warley Woods, Smethwick
Age Group: 5–11 years (siblings welcome)
Activities: Nature-based play, tool use, fire lighting, team challenges
Cost: £12 per child for a 2-hour session

Age Group: 8–14 years
Activities: Shelter building, fire lighting, tool skills, woodland cooking, nature games

Little Acorns Forest School

Age Groups:

• Acorns: 5–11 years

• Oaks: 12–16 years
